Player writes in and complains about BetCapri.com.  Quote: "I am having lot of problems with Al perkins to Collect my winnings, he is an agent for Betcapri.com( under a name of HOAG) his address is pXXXX@yahoo.com. He asked me to pay up front 5% Canadian tax . i already got burnt by him . i paid 9370 in taxes and got never got paid my winnings. Can any thing be done against this person I have lost 201K and 16K this week of my winnings. He is running a scam."

Apparently, BetCapri.com took over an account from another sportsbook that we still have yet to have named.  And when the player tries to withdraw funds, BetCapri tells him to pay a Canadian tax before he can get his money.  If this sounds suspiciously familiar , it is. This is much like the scam you get from the Nigerian mass emails. Except in this instance, it is using a live sportsbook to do so.  Win money, and before you can get it, you must pay us taxes on it. This is not legitimate.  You should never have to pay taxes on sportsbook winnings to the sportsbook itself, they are responsible for this.  You are responsible only from your end of sports winnings, directly to your government.

We emailed BetCapri directly last week. They simply inquired who we were and have failed to respond to any of our other emails.  A background check finds that BetCapri has been on and off-line between 2003 and now.  The original design was weak and only presented a phone number. The "whois" information is privacy guarded.  This, from all angles, appears to be a scam and it appears our reader has been ripped off.  Stay away from this scam sportsbook and all others like it.
