NHL Work Stoppage and Odds

The NHL is at the beginning of a work stoppage, the fourth since 1992. And what is the reason for the stoppage? Money as usual. Players want more money and owners don’t want to pay it. Every sport has had a stoppage. The NHL is no different.

This past Sunday was the first formal day of the 2012 NHL Lockout. And the sides have not met since it began. There are no formal discussions planned either. If players and owners are not careful this could become a full season lockout like the 2004-2005 season and everybody loses.

The regular season is scheduled to begin October 11 so there is still some time to get the deals done and play a preseason and start everything on schedule. At online sportsbooks, the odds for the NHL champion are posted. There are also props available based on lockout events.
