Rangers Have Odds in Their Favor in Game 7 versus Capitals

The NHL playoffs have a Game 7 tonight in what has been the most competitive and close series thus far in the NHL postseason. The New York Rangers will host the Washington Capitals in the deciding game of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

New York trailed in his series 3-1 before roaring back to win Game 5 and 6 to send it to a Game 7 final. New York opened at -175 as the home favorite. Each of the 11 postseason games, the Rangers have played in the first two rounds of the postseason have been decided by just one goal.

This is the first Game 7 on the road for Washington since the conference semifinals in 2012, when the Capitals played the Rangers at Madison Square Garden and lost 2-1.

In the history of the NHL playoffs, there have been 155 Game 7s with the home team winning 96 of the 155 for a 61.9% record. During the playoffs this season, the home team in a Game 7 is 2-0, which is much different from last season, when the home teams in Game 7s were 1-6.

Besides Washington winning its Game 7 last round versus the Islanders, Tampa Bay beat the Red Wings 2-0 in their Game 7 in round one.

The Rangers are used to Game 7s. New York has won five straight Game 7s leading up to this one. The last one they played was a victory in the second round last season against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
