NFL Trends to Consider and Injuries to Be Aware Of

The San Diego Chargers will host the Denver Broncos this Thursday and the results have not been that good for San Diego. The Chargers are 0-5 straight up and against the spread over the past 5 games, the two teams have played at San Diego.

The last time San Diego beat Denver at home was November of 2010. Over the past 10 head-to-head games between the two AFC West rivals, San Diego is 1-9 SU and 4-6 ATS.

The Carolina Panthers will take on the New Orleans Saints this week in an NFC South showdown. The Panthers have been dominating in this series at 6-2 SU while 4-4 ATS during the past 8 head-to-head meetings.

Over the past 4 games played in New Orleans, Carolina is 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS. New Orleans in two games at home this season is 0-2 SU and ATS and is 1-5 SU as well as 2-4 ATS over its past six home games that date back to last season.

Washington welcomes Philadelphia this week. The Redskins have won three consecutive games against the Eagles and have covered the number in four straight in this series.

Oakland visits AFC West rivals the Kansas City Chiefs. This rivalry has been lopsided in favor of the Chiefs of late. Kansas City is 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS over the past six games head to head to head with Oakland.

Indianapolis and Houston will battle in an AFC South showdown. The Colts need to remain hot versus their division rivals. Indianapolis is 6-1 SU while 5-1-1 ATS over their past 7 games versus Houston. The Colts are 3-0 SU and ATS over their past 3 games played in Houston.

Injuries

Cody Kessler was knocked out of the Cleveland game against New England in the first quarter after landing on his shoulder. He suffered both rib and chest injuries and did not return. Charlie Whitehurst played in Kessler’s place, but Terrelle Pryor Jr., who is now a wide receiver played quarterback for two seasons while with the Raiders.

Packers running back Eddie Lacy turned his left ankle during the third quarter of Sunday night’s game against New York. He did not return and his status is unknown.

Jeremy Hill the Bengals running back aggravated a chest injury on Sunday and did not return after being hit hard in the third quarter.
