September 8, 2015

Week 2 of the 2015 college football season starts on Thursday. There were a few surprises and a few upsets during Week 1 and more of the same is likely to happen during Week 2.

  • One of the biggest games on the second is Michigan State vs. Oregon, with the Spartans opening in the early line as 2.5-point chalk and by Monday afternoon that spread had moved up to Michigan State -3.5.
  • The Spartans look to avenge a loss of 46-27 from Week 2 of last season, when they were 14-point road dogs. The Spartans led that game at the half 24-18 but were outscored by the Ducks in the second half 28-3.
  • Other early lines for game of interest in Week 2
  • Michigan is still searching for win No. 1 under Jim Harbaugh after losing its opener. The Wolverines opened as 15-point favored versus Oregon State. That was bet down to -14.5 by Monday afternoon. Some online books have Michigan -15.5.
  • Notre Dame, who disposed rather easily of Texas as 9-point chalk at home last week, moved from -9 to -10.5 chalk in early action for their game against Virginia.
  • LSU opened as 3.5-point favorites on Sunday on the road against Mississippi State, but that has bet down to -3. However, a number of online books have the Tigers at -4 or -4.5.
  • Vanderbilt lost to Western Kentucky to open the season and is now 21-point dogs at home this week versus Georgia. As of Monday afternoon, some online sportsbooks had Georgia -19.
  • Oklahoma opened Sunday as a favorite by 1 point at Tennessee. However, that was lowered to a pick ‘em at some books while others have kept the Sooners at -1.
