Heisman Trophy Futures Updated, Jackson Still on Top

The college football regular season has now completed 9 weeks and individual players keep turning out great performances week in and week out leading their teams to big wins.
That makes it more difficult for sports bettors to pick a winner on the futures board for the coveted Heisman Trophy that is handed out annually in December to the top college football player in the nation.
Odds makers each week update the futures board for the prestigious award and this week is no different.
It appears that each week Lamar Jackson the Louisville Cardinals star quarterback is pulling away more from the rest of the field. Back in March, when the first futures board was released, Jackson was 100 to 1 to win the award but following last week’s performance he is now 1 to 3 to win it.
Jackson threw for 4 touchdowns last Saturday as Louisville squeaked by Virginia. Jackson’s season stats are almost hard to believe. The Cardinals quarterback has passed for 2522 yards and 22 touchdowns and has rushed for 996 yards and 16 touchdowns.
One of the preseason favorites, Deshaun Watson the star quarterback for Clemson has the second shortest odds after passing for 378 yards and a pair of touchdowns versus Florida State last week. At this time, Watson’s odds to win are 7 to 1.
This year’s only defensive player with any chance to win the coveted trophy is Jabrill Peppers. The Michigan standout linebacker has the third shortest odds on the board. Peppers started this season with odds of 60 to 1 but as of this week is sitting at 8 to 1.
Ohio State’s double threat quarterback J.T. Barnett has the fourth shortest odds at 10 to 1, while Washington Huskies quarterback Jake Browning rounds out the top five with 12 to 1 odds.
Other preseason favorites Leonard Fournette of LSU and Christian McCaffery of Stanford have dropped out of contention.
