NFL Playoff Lines and Leans

December 30, 2019
NFL playoff

The games for week 16 were quite exciting and things were shaken up a bit in the NFL playoffs. Miami’s surprise win at New England dropped the Patriots down from the 2 seed to the 3 seed meaning that they will have to play in the wild card weekend and don’t get home field advantage against the Chiefs should both teams win.

The Seattle Seahawks bumbled their chance to win the game last night and were out-coached and asĀ  a result they now have to travel to Philadelphia to pay the Eagles.

Here are the point spreads for the AFC wild card weekend

TeamSpreadPublic (Spread)MoneyLineTotal
Buffalo+360%+14042
Houston-340%-160
Tennessee+4.560%+18543.5
New England-4.540%-215

Our early leans for the AFC are on Houston. Granted they haven’t been playing lights-out football, they have home field and the team really is loaded with talent. If I were to bet this one I would buy the half point.

New England will most likely beat the Titans but by how much is uncertain. The moneyline may be the play here (-215) but there is not way I would bet Tennessee at New England against Brady. Its a cardinal sin.

TeamSpreadPublic (Spread)MoneyLineTotal
Minnesota+850%+31048
New Orleans-850%-400
Seattle-1.570%-12046
Philadelphia+1.530%+100

I think many of us have kind-of penciled Drew Brees into the Super Bowl this year but there are some major hurdles along the way. I don’t see Minny winning this game but they will be playing on turf, which they like, and they are a talented team. Many injuries to overcome but will they get beat by 8 points? I really don’t know.

The Eagles line opened at sportsbooks with Philadelphia -1 and has since been flipped to Seattle -1.5 and I wouldn’t be surprised if it kept going. It also wouldn’t be a complete shocker if Philly won this game. They are at home and do have a great passing attack. The way the Seahawks left the field last night makes me think that the players feel undermined by the ineptitude of their coaches.
