NHL Hockey Betting – Stanley Cup Finals Preview

June 3, 2014

The NHL season has been a joyride filled with lots of incredible action. The playoffs have been a runaway success from beginning to end, with a New York-Los Angeles series sure to bring big television ratings to the NHL. This series marks the first New York-Los Angeles world championship series in any sport since the 1981 World Series between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Which celebrity-rich city will get to celebrate the arrival of the Stanley Cup?

2014 NHL Stanley Cup Finals: New York Rangers vs. Los Angeles Kings

This matchup has many dimensions, but the biggest and best one involves the two goaltenders, New York’s Henrik Lundqvist and Los Angeles’ Jonathan Quick. These are widely regarded as two of the four or five best goalies in the NHL. Carey Price of Montreal might also be one of them. Tuukka Rask of Boston might also think he has a place in such a debate. Yet, when you get down to the best of the best, it’s probably Lundqvist and Quick, so it’s little surprise that they’re left on the ice to settle one of the better debates in all of professional hockey.

Naturally, the best goalies need help from their teams. Lundqvist got help from his team in Game 6 against Montreal in the Eastern Conference Finals. His team’s defense was so strong that he faced only 18 shots and didn’t have to work that hard. Quick got help from his team in the form of offensive explosions against Chicago in the Western Conference Finals. The Blackhawks continuously beat Quick to the punch, but the Kings were able to solve Chicago goalie Corey Crawford even more.

Los Angeles seems to be the team that can win in different ways. The Kings have come back from a 3-0 series deficit in these playoffs. They have to think that nothing can stop them if they play their game.
