Quick Look at Point Totals for NFL Week 5

October 7, 2017
Steelers running attack could lead to an UNDER on the point total.

NFL Week 4 saw the OVER cash 9-7 against the UNDER. Many NFL sports bettors love to bet on the point total of games. The point total allows the bettor to focus on how the teams are scoring of late, how they have played against equal opponents and how they have fared head to head during the season or the recent past.

After four weeks there have been six totals closes in the 30s, with the OVER cashing in 4 of the 6 or 67% of the time. In Week 5, three games Saturday morning were sitting at 40 or below.

In inter-conference games, the OVER has cashed 9-8-1 this season, including Thursday’s New England 19-14 win against Tampa Bay, when the OVER never factored in as the teams combined for 33 points while the total closed at 54.5.

This week there are two more inter-conference games with the 49ers visiting the Colts and the Chargers visiting the Giants.

Pittsburgh hosts Jacksonville this week. The Jaguars are road warriors with this being their third consecutive road game including a trip to London two weeks ago, prior to a visit to the Big Apple in Week 4 against the Jets. Pittsburgh is the NFL’s best UNDER team as each of its four games played this season cashed down UNDER.

Miami is perfect as well on the UNDER at 3-0. The Dolphins have played just three games following the cancellation of their home opener versus Tampa Bay due to Hurricane Irma. The Dolphins play their home opener Sunday versus Tennessee.

Offensively the Dolphins are struggling to say the least sitting in last or close to last in almost all offensive categories. However, the defense is strong and Tennessee is hobbled by injuries which could make for solid choice on the UNDER.

Dating back to last season, the Green Bay Packers have seen the OVER cashed in 14 of their past 17 games, including 6-0 to the OVER for totals that closed in the 50s during this stretch. The point total this week in the Packers road game against Dallas is currently at 52.5.
