Sportsbooks Win NFL Week 2 Thanks to the Vikings

September 20, 2016

Week 2 of the NFL regular season is in the books and sportsbooks have won again. The public won a few games early on Sunday, but let the books off the hook in the late games, then lost all their winnings for the entire day thanks to supporting the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.

Sharp money loved the Vikings and once again was right as Minnesota won outright 17-14 as a 2-point home dog.

Bettors early in the day on Sunday were able to cash three as well as four team parlays as popular public teams played very well.

New England covered as a 5.5-point home favorite with the OVER cashing which helped the public early.

Houston has attracted the support of the public thanks to coming up big and defeating Kansas City by 7 points. After two weeks, the Texans are 2-0 straight up and against the spread and both games have cashed UNDER.

Pittsburgh was a 3.5-point favorite at home against Cincinnati and came up with a big win 24-16. Most bettors took Pittsburgh and were able to cash in.

Dallas is always a popular team with the public and that paid off for bettors this past week when the Cowboys were 3.5-point road dogs and won outright 27-23 over Washington. In this rivalry, the road team has won six straight.

Parlay bettors liked Cam Newton to bounce back following a loss during Week 1. Newton and his Panthers did just that as 14-point chalk beating San Francisco 46-27.

Seattle helped the books with its 9-3 loss to Los Angeles, as 6-point chalk. The Rams were shutout in Week 1 versus San Francisco and still did not record a touchdown on the season, but came out on top in a field goal fest.

The public was behind Oakland to cover against Atlanta, but the Falcons won outright 35-28 even though the Raiders were 5-point favorites.

Minnesota then stepped up behind new quarterback Sam Bradford to beat Green Bay 17-14. The Vikings defense is living up to expectations thus far. The 3-point difference was the second NFL game of Week 1 to have a 3-point differential, which is the most key number for the NFL.

Favorites ended Week 2 at 8-6 against the number with four dogs outright winners. The over/under point totals ended 7-7.
