Stephen Curry Tops NBA MVP Odds

February 19, 2015

Online sportsbooks across the Internet have updated their odds for this season’s NBA MVP. Signs are pointing to a first-time winner.

Topping the list this week is Stephen Curry the talented sharpshooting guard from the Golden State Warriors. He starts the final stretch of the regular season as the odds on favorite to take home the league MVP award.

Thus far, during the season, Curry is scoring at a clip of 23.6 points per game. He is also handing out 7.9 assists, grabbing 4.7 rebounds and making 2.2 steals per game.

More importantly, Curry is the best player on the best team in the league at this point of the season.

Just behind Curry in second place is James Harden. Harden’s stats also show how successful of a season he is having statistically. The Houston Rockets guard is averaging career highs in scoring at 27.4 points, assists at 6.8 and rebounds at 5.7 per game.

The Rockets sit in fourth place in the Western Conference playoff race following the All-Star break. Harden has picked up his offensive output since Dwight Howard the team’s star center has missed 21 games.

In third place on the board for MVP is LeBron James. The Cleveland Cavaliers guard is sitting at 3 to 1 to win his fifth MVP award. This year, Kevin Durant the reigning MVP in the league is a 20 to 1 long shot due to nagging injuries off and on all season.

Following James and in front of Durant is New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis who is 10 to 1 to win the MVP award. So with three of the top five places held by possible first time winners, odds are that this season the MVP will win it for the first time.
