Super Bowl is Over, On To Next Big Sporting Event

February 9, 2017

The NFL football season has ended, which is a sad time for many sports bettors and things will not be the same for six weeks.

Even though football is equally important for both sports bettors and sportsbooks alike, both move onto the next big event which will be four days a week for two weeks followed by a long weekend.

The lead off weekend for March Madness is hugely popular for sports bettors with Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday games for the bettor that keeps sportsbooks on their toes as they try to find best the lines in very short time spans.

That first weekend this year, March 16-19, will have online sports bettors out in force as they will have 16 games Thursday and another 16 on Friday, followed by 8 on Saturday and another 8 on Sunday to whittle the field down to the Sweet 16, that will play the following Thursday thru Sunday.

In the meantime, sportsbooks are focusing on the ongoing NBA regular season which is nearly two thirds complete.

In just a few days spring training begins for Major League Baseball and sports bettors will fine tune their picks before the regular season begins in April.

Another big week to look forward to as a sports bettor is the week prior to the start of March Madness when the conference tournaments will be played to determine conference champions. That helps the NCAA selection committee, as conference champions are automatic picks into March Madness.

The weekend of conference tournament title games will be very big for both online sportsbooks and sports bettors alike. Games will be played from the east coast to the west coast making for an entire day of betting.

The biggest single sporting event for handle is the Super Bowl, but that game will be a distant memory in early March when the conference tournaments kickoff followed by three weeks of March Madness.

In the meantime, the NBA is beginning to grow in popularity with sports bettors, as the rivalry between Golden State and Cleveland heats up and the two conferences have battles for the eight playoff berths in each.
