Texas A&M Aggies Have Value on the OVER for Wins Total

July 29, 2016

The regular season of college football begins in less than a month, which means odds makers have released win totals for every team.

The Southeastern Conference will once again prove to be one of the best, if not the best, top to bottom this season. That will make it that much more difficult for teams to reach their projected win totals due to facing stiff conference opponents.

Here is a solid over/under win total to consider when looking at the SEC.

Texas A&M has a win total of 6.5 this season. The OVER is sitting at -130 on a number of books but goes as low as -115 on some and as high as -160 on others.

With a win total at 6.5 the OVER play looks to have good value. Last season the Aggies were 8-4 during the regular season and lost the Music City Bowl to Louisville. In that game, the Aggies played a third string quarterback.

Texas is returning six offensive starters and seven defensive starters. Trevor Knight a transfer from Oklahoma will start at quarterback. He has started 15 games and has thrown for over 3,200 yards and rushed for over 850. He led the Sooners over Alabama in the 2014 Sugar Bowl 45-31.

He will be throwing to quite possibly the best corps of wide receivers in the nation. Christian Kirk caught 80 passes last season as a true freshman. Ricky Seals-Jones and Josh Reynolds caught a combined 96 passes and Speedy Noil, when healthy, is a big weapon out wide as well.

The defense for Texas A&M during 2015 was improved over previous years thanks to the hiring of defensive coordinator John Chavis. The defense gave up just 22 points a game and returns 7 of its top 8 tacklers.

Texas A&M must play Tennessee and South Carolina in the East division of the SEC

The Aggies open versus UCLA, which will be pivotal for them to start the season well. Most sportsbooks have the Aggies as 1.5-point chalk in the opener.

The Aggies also face the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and LSU.

Take the OVER on 6.5 wins.
