The 2 Best Football Matchups Of The Week

October 16, 2013

October is a great time to be a sports fan and while there’s lots going on this week, football fans will be treated to a couple of excellent tilts. We’ve highlighted the best pro and college matchup for you to lookout for this weekend:

NFL

Familiar faces return home in Week 7 as Peyton Manning returns to his old stomping grounds in Indianapolis. Manning’s Broncos (6-0) are just one of two undefeated teams left in the NFL but they’ve had closer-than-expected shaves over the last couple of weeks. They escaped Jerry World with a 51-48 win over the Dallas Cowboys and then labored a little bit in a 35-16 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. All eyes will be on Manning-versus-Andrew Luck to see if the youngster and his Colts can handle the veteran and his Broncos their first loss of the season. At last check, the Broncos were a six-point road favorite on the NFL betting lines.

NCAA

This Saturday, we’ll see one of the college football games of the year. ACC football fans have had this Florida State-Clemson battle circled since the offseason and neither team has disappointed to date. That means that all the marbles are still on the line in this contest as both teams are still undefeated and both are ranked in the Associated Press Top 5.

The preseason perception of this contest was that Florida State’s freshman quarterback, Jameis Winston, might not be ready for the spotlight that this game will bring and that Clemson – with their seasoned quarterback, Tajh Boyd – would have an edge. However, Winston has been amazing so far, throwing 17 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Him and Boyd could very well be the Heisman Trophy frontrunners, which only adds another element to this Saturday spectacle.

At last check, WagerWeb had the Seminoles listed as a three-point favorite in the sportsbook. WagerWeb is a sportsbooks with a long history of accepting online wagers.
