Three NFL Week 1 Games to Consider Betting Now

August 21, 2017

The NFL regular season is just three weeks away and that means some of the lines for Week 1 have started to move, while others will move as the rest of the preseason unfolds.

One game worth looking at now for Week 1 is the Los Angeles Chargers visiting the Denver Broncos. On most sportsbooks Denver is 3.5-point chalk. The line opened at 4.5 but has dropped due to the issues at quarterback with Denver.

It is still not known who will start for Denver between Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch. Neither played that inspiring of ball in their opening week of the preseason season and problems on the offensive line have also surfaced.

The Chargers won just 9 of their final 32 games at home in San Diego and hope a move to Los Angeles changes that. Quarterback Philip Rivers, who is 35, could be pressured this season if he has a slow start to the season.

The time is now to jump on this game before the line moves any more. Los Angeles and 3.5 points looks solid here.

Another interesting Week 1 matchup is the New Orleans Saints visiting the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are currently favored by 3.5 points.

The Vikings started last season with five straight wins but then lost six of their next seven averaging only 12 points per game during their losses.

Last season, the Vikings defense kept them in games as it was the league’s best and it will need to be against the arm of Drew Brees and the Saints explosive offense.

With the quarterback issue not fully resolved in Minnesota between Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Bradford for the future, the Vikings might not be running on all cylinders when this game kicks off.

However, Brees will come out throwing and has a solid option on the ground with Adrian Peterson, the former Viking, and Mark Ingram to keep the Vikings defense off balance.

The Saints and 3.5 points are looking solid at this point.

As for as totals for the first week, the Kansas City Chiefs visiting the New England Patriots is currently at 48.5. The opening line was 50, but was bet down. With new additions on offense for the Patriots such as Brandin Cooks and Rob Gronkowski once again healthy, the Pats offense should be clicking on all cylinders.

The OVER looks good here.
