Two Intriguing Week 3 NFL Preseason Games

August 26, 2015

Week 3 of the NFL preseason means teams will be playing their starters into the third quarter, giving NFL fans and bettors the first taste of what they can expect to see this season from the start of the season on September 10.

With Jordy Nelson the wide receiver from Green Bay lost for the season, many coaches across the league are publicly expressing their displeasure over how many preseason games are played.

Bettors should play it cautious this week, as teams appear as if they will possibly sit their starters earlier than usual for Week 3 of the preseason.

Many position battles are often won or lost during Week 3 of preseason, making for compelling storylines and exciting preseason bets.

Here are a few thoughts on a few of the games for this week, which kickoff off on Friday.

Lions vs. Jaguars

The Detroit Lions visit the Jacksonville Jaguars with Jacksonville favored by 2 points and the point total sitting on 42. Detroit’s chances of winning the NFC North were given a big boost when Nelson went down injured for Green Bay. Matthew Stafford the Lions quarterback has played well but limited thus far during the preseason. He should play the entire half. His top target Calvin Johnson is expected to play for the first time this preseason.
T.J. Yeldon the rookie rusher for Jacksonville will debut this week, which should help the offense led by quarterback Blake Bortles.

Steelers vs. Bills

The Pittsburgh Steelers visit the Buffalo Bills on Saturday. The Bills are favored by 2.5 points with the point total on 42.5. Bettors are perplexed by this game. Rex Ryan the Buffalo coach has not said who will start in Week 3.

At the same time, the Steelers are trying to find replacements for two of their key players on offense. They lost Maurkice Pouncey their starting center to a broken fibula and Bruce Gradkowski their backup quarterback to a dislocated finger. There is speculation that Pittsburgh is interested in the services of Michael Vick.

These two games should give bettors an idea on how the four teams will look on opening day in September.
