Over/Under Point Total Betting Trends for Week 1

NFL’s Week 1 concludes with 12 games on Sunday and 2 on Monday following the cancellation of the Miami-Tampa Bay game due to Hurricane Irma.

Week 1 of the 2017 NFL season opened Thursday with the Kansas City stunning New England 42-27 with bettors cashing the OVER for the first half, second half and total. The opening game of the NFL season has cashed to the OVER the past two seasons and four of the past five.

Looking at a few of the point totals’ shows bettors like the UNDER in the Jacksonville at Houston matchup that opened at 42 and has been bet down to 39.5. Another big mover is the New York Jets at Buffalo with the total opening at 43 but is down to 40.

Week 1 Over/Under Trends

New Orleans Saints: The OVER has cashed in 5 of the last 6 season openers for the Saints and New Orleans as a team is 1-5 straight up during that stretch. In those five losses the Saints have allowed between 31 and 42 points.

Buffalo Bills: The UNDER has cashed in each of its last four season openers, with Buffalo allowing 13 and 14 points during each of the last two season openers.

Detroit Lions: The OVER has cashed in each of the last 6 opening games for the Lions, with Detroit scoring between 27 and 39 points in each of the six games.

Cincinnati Bengals: The OVER has cashed in 6 of the last 7 season openers for the Bengals. The Bengals play the Baltimore Ravens to open the season which is the third time during the last five seasons the two have met in Week 1. In the two previous games, the point totals were 57 and 39. The current line has a point total that opened at 44 and is sitting on 41.

Green Bay Packers: The OVER has cashed in each of Green Bay’s last six season openers. Seattle visits the Packers to open the season and the OVER has cashed in 3 of the last 4 head to head meetings between the two NFC rivals.
