William Hill Out of Belgium

Scott Morris | April 28, 2014

Powerful online sportsbook William Hill (Rating A at SBA) is pulling out of Belgium starting tomorrow April 29, 2014. The move comes as European Union countries tighten online gambling restrictions. The reason behind the restrictions, you guessed it: Greed. The EU countries are worried about money leaving their country.

Last year Ladbrokes (Rating B+ at SBA) pulled out of Belgium as well. Ladbrokes is the #2 UK based sportsbook behind William Hill. The changes in Belgium have been in the making for some time.

From William Hill email: “This means customers from Belgium will no longer be able to register or place a bet on any William Hill product. …. Customers in Belgium may continue to withdraw their funds after this date.  Please feel free to encourage your players to contact Customer Services if they experience any problems accessing their account or withdrawing their funds. “
