College Football Injuries for Week 3

September 18, 2015

The college football regular season enters Week 3 and there are a number of injuries that could have an effect on outcomes of games.

  • Malik Zaire the quarterback for Notre Dame is out the remainder of this season after breaking his ankle last week. That means DeShone Kizer a redshirt freshman will start for the Fighting Irish this week against No 14 ranked Georgia Tech.
  • Toledo enjoyed one of the biggest upsets of Week 2 knocking off Arkansas 16-12 as a 22.5-point dog. The Rockets victory was far more impressive when you see they were without Kareem Hunt their running back or Allen Covington their talented defensive end. Hunt ran for 1,631 yards last season and Covington as second team All-MAC. Both were sitting out suspensions, but will return this week versus Iowa State.
  • Tennessee’s personnel issues have been well documented this early season. Things became worse after the overtime loss last week to Oklahoma. Curt Maggitt a senior at linebacker hurt his hip and will be out this week. He had 11 sacks to lead the team last season. Danny O’Brien the starring defensive tackle is suspended.
  • Florida Gators Keanu Neal the starting safety should start this Saturday despite missing the first two games with a strained hamstring.
  • Connor Mitch the starting quarterback for South Carolina is out up to 6 weeks with an injured shoulder and hip infection. Perry Orth will start in his place.
  • Arkansas’ Keon Hatcher a wide receiver will miss up to 8 weeks with an injured foot.
  • Missouri’s Russell Hansbrough will not play at running back on Saturday versus UConn. He was hurt in the opening game of the season.
  • Western Kentucky’s running back Leon Allen hurt his leg and knee last Thursday and will be out the remainder of the season.
  • Air Force quarterback Nate Romine will not play against Michigan State.
  • Daniel Lasco a star running back for California is questionable for the game on Saturday against Texas.
  • Travis Wilson the starting quarterback for Utah is doubtful for the team’s Saturday games versus Fresno State.
