Profitable College Basketball Teams Bettors May Not Know About

Scott Morris | December 14, 2015

College basketball is in full swing and will get some more attention from bettors before the college football bowl season begins this weekend.

Through the first month of the season a number of college basketball team have earned good money for those bettors backing them.

Some of the teams are in major conferences while others are in the mid-majors and flying below the odds makers’ radar and could be profitable against the spread moving forward.

The Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans on the season are 8-0 straight up and 5-0 against the spread. This Sun Belt Conference team has won three underdog games outright against bigger schools San Diego State, DePaul and Tulsa. The Trojans defense is very strong allowing 60 or fewer points in seven of their first eight games.

The Central Florida Knights are 5-3 SU and 7-0 ATS. The season started for UCF 1-3 but the Knights have bounced back with four straight wins, capped by a win on Saturday against Florida Atlantic by 14 points. The Knights have been the favorite four times and won outright while covering in each.

The Kansas State Wildcats are 7-2 SU and 5-0-1 ATS. Kansas State could make waves this season in the Big 12, which has been perennially dominated by Kansas. Kansas State has won all of its five home games. The Wildcats lost on Saturday at Texas A&M but will play four straight at home, while being favored in at least the first three.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits are 9-1 SU and 7-0 ATS. Last season, the team was 18-6 ATS and is now 25-6 ATS over their past 31 games played. SDSU has beaten Minnesota and TCU, two major conference teams on the road this season. This week, the team will start three games on the road with the first against Texas Tech, which is winnable.

The University of Texas-Arlington Mavericks are 8-2 SU and 8-1 ATS. This team is making big noise as a mid-major thus far in the first month of the season. The Mavericks have road wins at Memphis and Ohio State as road dogs by double digits in each game. The Mavericks lost a close game to Texas, but covered. As the favorite, the Mavericks are perfect at 4-0 SU and ATS.
