NFL Week 7 Betting Results

Scott Morris | October 23, 2017
Tennessee and Cleveland combined for 21 points

Week 7 of the NFL regular season concludes with Monday Night Football in an NFC East clash between the Redskins and Eagles, but here is a quick look at the week’s previous 14 games.

Favorites for Week 7 were 11-3 straight up and 8-4-2 against the spread. Home teams were 9-5 SU and 8-4-2 ATS. The over/under for the week was 6-8.

The two biggest underdogs to win outright were Chicago (+3) over Carolina 17-3 and Oakland (+3) over Kansas City 31-30.

The two biggest favorites to cover were Dallas (-6.5) over San Francisco 40-10 and Minnesota (-5) over Baltimore 24-16.

Three teams – Cardinals, Broncos and Colts –were shutout during Week 7. That number equaled the number of shutouts during all of last season, and was the first time in nearly 5 seasons that three NFL teams had goose eggs on the scoreboard during the same weekend in the NFL.

Points were hard to come by in the AFC battle between the Titans and Browns where just seven fields were scored in the Titans’ 12-9 victory.

The Panthers and Bears managed to score just a combined 20 points, but only two field goals from offense drives the entire game. The defense for the Bears scored on a 75-yard fumble return for six points and an interception return of 76 yards for a touchdown.

Jacksonville continues to win as well as cover during odd-numbered weeks, while the Jaguars lose and do not cover during even-numbered weeks. This trend continued with Jacksonville’s 27-0 win at Indianapolis on Sunday.

The Jaguars have a bye this week and return to face Cincinnati in Week 9 where the trend says they will win and cover, but the cover gods might be confused by the bye.

Points were not scored in Sunday night’s Super Bowl rematch between Atlanta and New England like everyone expected. The total closed at 57, but just 30 points were scored in the Patriots 23-7 win and cover as 3-point chalk.

In the Ravens-Vikings game, the point total was the lowest of the weekend at 37.5. The UNDER looked like a winner, but it ain’t over till it’s over. The Ravens scored a meaningless touchdown on the last play of the game to push the total to 40 giving the OVER players a win, and the UNDER a headache.
