Free Pick Georgia vs Vanderbilt

Several times per week we like to isolate a game and write a full preview and pick for our loyal readers. On Wednesday, March 7, 2018 we have Georgia playing Vanderbilt in the SEC Tournament. The spread has been issued with Georgia favored by two points. This is round one of the tournament, which is being played in St. Louis. This game tips at 7:00 pm EST.

When these teams faced each other last month, Vanderbilt was a 4 point home favorite. They won easily 81-66. Here we are a month later and Georgia will get a chance at redemption.

These teams are not very good. Vanderbilt is just 12-19 straight up and only 10-19-1 against the spread. They score 72 PPG and allow 73. They won their last outing which was against Mississippi. But they had lost the three previous games.

Georgia has a winning record this year. They are 16-14 SU and 14-15 ATS. They score 68 on offense and allow 67. They have lost their last two games played and have lost 3 of their last 5.

Power Forward Yaten Maten is the leading scorer for Georgia with 19 PPG and will have to have an excellent game to get this win. He scored 20 points in their first meeting. He will need 20 or more in this game if they are to get the win.  Vanderbilt had five players score in double figures in that same game and that was key to their success.

Georgia will need to play better overall team defense to be able to beat this Vanderbilt team. I think Georgia is a better overall team than Vanderbilt. This is a neutral floor. I consider this technically a road game for both teams and Vandy is a horrific 1-10 straight up away from home. Georgia is 4-9 SU away from home, which isn’t great, but it is much better than 1-10. Take Georgia in this game. They should be able to pull out the win.
