5Dimes to Withdraw from U.S. Market

5Dimes

The very popular online sportsbook 5Dimes announced this week that it will stop doing business with American residents later this month. They will stop taking deposits and sign-ups right away and customers have until September 25th to withdraw their funds.

When contacted for comment 5Dimes said “We are relaunching the company into a better one for our customers, and to do it properly, we need to suspend service to U.S. customers, but it is only temporary.”

If you are not very familiar with sportsbooks but 5Dimes rings a bell, it is probably because the drama that  surrounded the former owner of 5Dimes named “Tony”. His real name was Sean Creighton and in 2018 he was kidnapped and murdered in a scheme to get money from his wife. The suspects were arrested last year. Many people in the industry (including some in our office) feared this would be the beginning of the end of 5Dimes. Is it possible this is the end? Anything is possible.

5Dimes stated that they will continue to do business with customers outside of the U.S. There is no word of what this new venture they are planning actually is. Stay tuned.
