Sports betting is a multi-billion dollar per year business. Anytime you have a game of chance of enjoyed by the masses, there will be plenty of betting on the outcome. And betting on sports is not just for common folk. Celebrities and people of all walks of life and tax brackets bet sports.

In this article we will go over a list of famous celebrities who bet sports. Some you know and about and some you may not. Some are current celebrities and some are famous people who have passed on.

Now these celebrities aren’t just people who may have made a friendly wager with their pal at a Super Bowl party. These are people who actually have engaged in placing sports bets with a sportsbook (or bookie) and have attempted to win money based on their knowledge of the sport and the players playing.

Norm McDonald – The famous comedian and SNL cast alum is pretty open with his sports betting ways. He has talked about it many times and has lamented about the amount of money he has lost on the venture. These days he even includes his sports picks in his social media posts.

Walter Matthau – The famous actor (who is no longer with us) is famous for playing in many movies and shows, most notably “The Odd Couple”, “Dennis the Menace” and “Grumpy Old Men”. His struggles with trying to win at sports betting are the stuff of lore. Fellow Actor Kevin Pollack tells a story about Matthau which allegedly occurred when the two first met on the set of “Grumpy Old Men”. I’ll let him tell you. Its definitely worth watching.

Ashton Kutcher – The actor known for many roles including “That 70’s Show”, “The Butterfly Effect”, “Jobs” and “Two and a Half Men” sat down for an interview with Esquire magazine in 2013 and when the topic of sports and sports betting was broached said “We were clearing, like, $750,000 in four weeks of college football. It was pretty fun.”. I don’t know who the “we” he is referring to but I can only guess it was a friend(s) or perhaps even a pick service.

Floyd Mayweather – This is pretty common knowledge but we have to have him on the list. Mayweather famously bet on himself for many of his boxing matches. But he has also bet on the NFL, NBA and other sports. Some of his betting triumphs can be seen on his social media pages. But there is an article online about his many losses and how much money it has cost him over the years as well.

Pete Rose – We can’t make this list and not include Charlie Hustle. Perhaps the most famous sports gambling story ever, Pete Rose bet on baseball games while he was the manager of the Cincinnati Reds. You can see our original article which contains evidence used to prosecute Rose and ban him from baseball for life.
