Week 9 of the 2023 NFL season reached its end and it came with its fair share of drama and entertainment. Halfway through the season now, fans are hooked more than ever and the games keep on getting more interesting by the week. Week 9 brought its own list of injuries; players having to exit the field one after the other. Sadly, there were quite a few big names on there this time around. Here is a roundup of notable injuries this past week:

  •         Jalen Hurts:

Quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, Jalen Hurts, was thrown down by linebacker Micah Parsons late in the second quarter of the game against the Dallas Cowboys. Hurts limped to the sidelines after remaining on the ground for quite some time. He did not miss a play and returned to the field after halftime where he seemed to be moving just fine. He is not expected to miss any time in the upcoming weeks either. It seems that this blow aggravated his existing knee injury that he had met with in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins, however, the player refuses to answer questions regarding this matter. Luckily for Hurts and the Eagles, they have a by week this weekend and come back on Monday Night Football on November 20th to face their Super Bowl 57 foes, the Kansas City Chiefs.

  •         Daniel Jones:

The New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones returned to the field to face the Las Vegas Raiders after missing three games due to a neck injury. However, the odds just haven’t been in his favor as he suffered a non contact knee injury in the second quarter. Turns out the player tore his ACL and will have to miss the remainder of the 2023 NFL season.

  •         Cam Akers:

Running back Cam Akers, from the Minnesota Vikings, exited the field during the fourth quarter in the game against the Atlanta Falcons due to an apparent ankle injury. Their head coach later reported that the MRI had revealed that it was in fact a torn left Achilles. This is the player’s second torn Achilles in his four-year career and as expected, Akers will be sitting out the rest of the 2023 NFL season.

  •         K.J. Osborn:

Another player from the Vikings, wide receiver K.J. Osborn took a violent hit to the head during the second quarter of the game on Sunday. He was seen motionless on the ground after the blow from the opposition’s cornerback Jeff Okudah. He did manage to stand on his own and was carted off the field to the locker room. The player was quickly ruled out with a concussion.

  •         Christian Watson:

Wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers, Christian Watson, left the game against the Los Angeles Rams with only five minutes remaining when he was quite shaken up after a catch. Watson was able to walk back to the locker room on his own and it was reported that he had not only suffered chest and back injuries but was also being evaluated for a concussion. The wide receiver has only played four games this season because of a hamstring injury he sustained earlier this year and his future has become uncertain yet again.

Fans are eager to see how the teams deal with these injuries at this point in the NFL season and it is only going to get more intriguing from here.
