Giannis Next Team Odds

According to sources at ESPN: Giannis Antetokounmpo will explore best fits outside of Milwaukee after the Bucks failed to advance in the NBA playoffs this season. They were crushed in the first round by the Pacers, despite Giannis scoring 33PPG and nabbing 15 RPG.
The Bucks just signed the star player to a three-year extension not that long ago which pays him an average of $58M per year. The catch 22 of having that sort of salary is that good teams typically don’t have that much capital to pay a single player because their money is all tied up.
BetOnline.ag has issued odds for his most likely landing spots. Let’s take a look at those teams now.
San Antonio Spurs +250
The Spurs are not very good. They finished 34-48 in the regular season and coach Popovich just retired. They do have some pieces in place, but the uphill climb is there, for sure. It’s not a plug-and-play situation by any means.
Houston Rockets +400
Not far behind the Spurs on the list is another Texas team. The Rockets are in the market for a big man and Giannis could fill that role. The Rockets lost in a close series in round one to an underwhelming Warriors team. In my opinion, this could be the best spot for Giannis and is where I’d place my bet.
New Orleans Pelicans +600
The Zion Williamson experiment doesn’t seem to be working. The big guy can’t stay healthy for an entire season. It may be in the Pelicans’ best interest to cut ties with him and bring Giannis in. New Orleans was 21-61 this season. Not a good team by any metric.
Memphis Grizzlies +650
The Grizz were swept in round one of this year’s playoffs by the Thunder. They will need a heavy hitter offseason move to be able to compete with the top tier NBA teams. As of now, they are a second-tier program.
