Could the Philadelphia Eagles Be Even Better in the 2025–26 Season?

James Willis | June 10, 2025
Eagles 2025 and future

With no disrespect to the fine folks at the National Audubon Society, some birds have targets on their backs once the subject turns to NFL game odds.

Those feathered friends in question are the Philadelphia Eagles, who slapped the Kansas City Chiefs into submission at Super Bowl LIX last season. It was such dominance that only a pair of garbage-time Chief touchdowns ‘lipsticked’ a 40-22 final score.

Saquon Barkley may not have won the NFL MVP award last season (he finished third), but the first-season Eagle running back enjoyed a renaissance in Philly. How about a league-leading 2,005 rushing yards (13 touchdowns, an additional two as a receiver)?

That season was quite painful to the New York Giants, who didn’t offer much in the way of resistance when Barkley decided to take his ball down the New Jersey Turnpike.

Winning the NFC East with a 14-3 record in NFL games last season, Philadelphia was led by Barkley (Super Bowl MVP), quarterback Jalen Hurts (32 combined touchdowns in the regular season) ,and a smothering defense (conference-fewest 303 points allowed). In last season’s playoffs, Philly disposed of the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and Washington Commanders at home by 12, six, and 32 points, respectively. That preceded a lopsided title game, which was ostensibly over (24-0) at halftime.

Philadelphia and its many weapons are listed at 13-2 (+650) favorites to win the next title, according to NFL game odds.

Here’s a bit of a primer on Philadelphia Eagles games with camps about seven weeks away…

Are the Eagles the Favorites to Repeat as Champions?

Indeed. As was mentioned and as of this early-June writing, it’s the Philadelphia Eagles favored to successfully defend their title, priced at 13-2 (+650). Philly isn’t alone as far as having fans with that wager, with the Baltimore Ravens at 7-1 (+700), Buffalo Bills at 15-2 (+750), and Kansas City Chiefs at 17-2 (+850) at BetUS.com

It’s those four teams under double figures on the current (guaranteed to be fluctuating) board.

As the defending champions of the league, Philly has the honor of hosting the first game on the NFL schedule. That’s Thursday, Sept. 7th, against the division rival Dallas Cowboys

If you’re looking to get in some early action, Philadelphia is a touchdown favorite in that game. Let’s assume the Eagles are going to be favored more often than not in NFL game odds.

Does BetUS Offer Constant Updates on NFL Game Betting Lines?

Though no NFL games today, expect the Philadelphia Eagles to have their supporters once the regular season begins in about three months. BetUS will once offer a plethora of pro football odds and props, all the way to Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California.

Philly’s two subsequent games (at the Kansas City Chiefs, home against the Los Angeles Rams) are against teams it defeated in the last postseason. Those will be among the more popular games on the betting menu when it comes to NFL game odds.

Any Final Thoughts?

As was mentioned, the manner in which the Philadelphia Eagles tore through the NFL last season (especially in the playoffs) has made them the favorites in NFL Super Bowl odds this season. Before you hop on that bandwagon, note the league has not seen a repeat titleist in two decades (New England Patriots of 2004-05).

NFL rumors are a continuous, 12-month loop, with just how well the Philadelphia Eagles continue to be birds of prey certainly part of that cycle.

There won’t be a definitive answer until NFL scores actually begin to count.
