Three Teams That Should Pursue Kevin Durant This Offseason

Even at 36 years of age (37 by the start of next season) and with a history of injuries plus more than a bit of wear and tear on the tires, there’s no denying Kevin Durant’s ability to fill a stat sheet. He missed the latter part of this past season (injured ankle) in what was a woeful (36-46) year in Phoenix, as the Suns did not even make the play-in portion of the playoffs.
With a single season remaining on his current contract, it’s unclear whether it’s best to have the player and team part company. The saga of Durant and his next team (if not the Suns) figures to be one of the bigger storylines during the summer in the NBA.
Ranking eighth among all-time scorers with more than 30,000 points, Durant has a resume that dates back to a Rookie of the Year season with the 2007-08 Seattle SuperSonics.
Then, after the Sonics became the Thunder, eight seasons in Oklahoma City, three with the Golden State Warriors, with two (and parts of a third) both as a Brooklyn Net and a Phoenix Sun.
Through it all, he’s been chosen 11 times All-NBA, once (2013-14) MVP of the league, a two-time scoring champ, and a member of the 75th anniversary team in the NBA.
He has appeared in more than 1,100 regular-season NBA games, averaging in excess of 27 points per game (his last season numbers were 62 games and 26.6 points/game).
Regarding what’s next, Durant’s possible change-of-address card even comes with odds, with both the Houston Rockets and New York Knicks listed at 2-1 (+200). Right behind are the Minnesota Timberwolves at 3-1 (+300) and the Toronto Raptors (4-1, [+400]).
There’s no shortage of speculation and mock trade scenarios around Durant’s next jersey.
It’s not inconceivable that a Durant deal needs to include more than two teams since the salaries of players who get moved have to fit certain parameters.
NBA game odds as well as team props figure to have their needles moved once Durant’s destination is settled.
Here’s a bit of a primer on Kevin Durant and his place in current NBA rumors…
How Much Money Does KD Make in a Year?
Do not expect Kevin Durant to be clipping coupons anytime soon, with a listed 2024-25 salary in Phoenix just shy of $50 million.
How Many Rings Does Durant Have?
That’s two, consecutively (2017-18) with the Golden State Warriors. It wasn’t surprising Durant added NBA Finals MVP honors to those titles. He then famously ruptured his Achilles tendon in the 2019 Finals, subsequently missing the entire 2019-20 season in the NBA schedule.
Does BetUS Offer Constant Updates on NBA Game Betting Lines?
Indeed. There is wagering on individual NBA game odds as well as additional props involving teams and players. If you’re a ‘long-term’ investor, there are futures out there in any number of specific categories, including division, conference, and Finals winners.
As of this mid-June writing, there are odds (and some props) involving the ongoing NBA Finals, the late-June draft, current coaching vacancies, future individual player accolades (provided that plate doesn’t retire), and many other scenarios.
Any Final Thoughts?
Anyone who pays even marginal attention to NBA scores and NBA game odds is acutely aware of Kevin Durant. He’s a Hall-of-Famer in waiting who has the league currently waiting on his next move. It’s (theoretically) possible Durant remains with the Phoenix Suns, but with a makeover needed in the desert, do not expect him in Arizona once the 2025-26 season begins.
