The Milwaukee Bucks waived Damian Lillard on July 1, 2025, and stretched the remaining $113 million on his contract over five years to create cap space for signing center Myles Turner to a four-year, $107 million deal. Lillard, who suffered a torn Achilles tendon in April 2025, welcomed the release, allowing him to rehab in Portland and choose his next destination as a free agent.
