New NBA Franchise City Odds

There are plans in the works to bring a new team to the NBA. The city has not been decided yet.
The NBA has not set a definitive timeline for adding a new franchise. Commissioner Adam Silver has indicated that expansion will be discussed with team owners in July 2025, following the completion of new media rights deals and other league priorities. While cities like Seattle and Las Vegas are considered strong candidates, no official decisions have been made, and the process could take several years.
Seattle and Vancouver both have had franchises in recent years. In 2001 the Vancouver Grizzlies moved to Memphis and became the Grizzlies, and in 2008 the Seattle Supersonics moved to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder.
Kansas City had an NBA team known as the Kansas City Kings from 1972 to 1985. The team relocated from Cincinnati and played at the Municipal Auditorium and later the Kemper Arena. In 1985, the franchise moved to Sacramento, becoming the Sacramento Kings.
