Top ten college football rivalries ranked

We all love a good college football rivalry. These are what we look forward to on a Saturday morning. Teams seem to play harder, and the competition seems to be more intense.

These rivalries were formed over many years of teams doing battle on the grid iron. Players, students and alumnus look forward to winning these games so they can rub it in the face of their counterparts.

Recently, The Athletic posted a list of the best college football rivalries and ranked them. In this article we want to share the top ten rankings and also attach championship futures odds for the 2025-2026 season.

10. Minnesota (+50,000) – Wisconsin (+75,000)

These two first did battle in 1890. Since then, Wisconsin has managed to get the better of Minnesota 46-28-3 but Minnesota has won three of the last four meetings.

9. Florida (+3300) – FSU (+30,000)

A relatively new rivalry that began in 1958, FSU vs FL has become a great rivalry which receives plenty of betting action every year. The Gators lead the series 38-28-2

8. Ohio State (+650) – Penn State (+900)

This is one of my personal favorites. Although Penn State doesn’t win national championships like Ohio State does, they often try to act as spoiler. Despite playing their first game against one another 113 years ago, these two have only played each other at total of 39 times. The Buckeyes have won 12 of the last 13 times they’ve met and now lead the series 25-14 as a result of recent successes.

7. Miami (+4000) – FSU (+30,000)

This is a close series with Miami leading 36-33 all time. FSU has won 10 of the last 15 battles against the Hurricanes. This year Miami is supposed to be a much better team than FSU but you can count on the game being a good one.

6. Nebraska (+10,000) – Oklahoma (+5000)

These two teams went head-to-head for years until the Big 12 was broken up. They used to play every year but haven’t played since 2022. This rivalry would probably be ranked a little higher if not for the split. Oklahoma leads the series 47-38-3. They are not scheduled to play again until 2029.

5. USC (+8000) – Notre Dame (+1200)

First played 99 years ago, Notre Dame vs USC has taken on a life of its own. When one team is having a great season the other aims to play the party pooper role. Notre Dame leads the all-time series 50-37-5. The Irish have won 6 out of the last 7 games in this matchup and will most likely be favored again this year.

4. Army (+100,000) – Navy (+100,000)

There is no more heated a rivalry than the Army Navy game. These two service academies look forward to this game every year. The nation also gets pretty amped up and bout it too. Besides the fact that all the military veterans tuning in to root on their services, the game is also the only game in town the week it is played (1 week after the regular season ends but before the bowl games start).

3. Oklahoma (+5000) – Texas (+550)

The Red River Rivalry routinely attracts 92,000+ fans to the game every time it is played. These cross-border rivals live to battle one another and getting to the national title usually involves having to win this matchup for either team. Texas leads the series 64-51-5. Although Oklahoma has won 7 of the last 10 in this series, they will most likely be solid underdogs this year.

2. Auburn (+5000) – Alabama (+850)

The Iron Bowl is a matchup that fans and bettors enjoy every year. These two in-state programs first faced off in 1893. Alabama leads the series 51-37-1 and has won 9 of the last 11 times they faced off. Alabama will most likely be clear cut favorites this year.

1.  Michigan (+3300) – Ohio State (+650)

Even people who have little to no interest in the Big 10 tune in to see this classic matchup. Michigan leads the series 62-51-6. Throw in the fact that Michigan won the championship 2 years ago only to have Ohio State win it all last year and the rivalry is at an all-time high.

Many people may not agree with this top 10 list or at the very least disagree with the order. But we can all agree that when these teams face off, the general and betting public pay attention.
