What Does Jonathan Kuminga Mean for the Warriors’ Championship Odds?

He will turn 23 just before the start of the 2025-26 NBA regular season, but Jonathan Kuminga of the Golden State Warriors already has a resume in the league. The Republic of Congo native averaged 15.3 points per game last season, though missing 35 games along the way.
That was after his career-best 16.1 points/game average (74 games) in 2023-24. Entering his fifth season by the Bay (and in the NBA), the restricted free agent isn’t thrilled where he is. Reports suggested a trip north to Sacramento would be the 6-foot-7 forward’s destination of choice; however, his current team has plans to accommodate.
There’s friction between player and coach (Steve Kerr), Kuminga blaming Kerr about inconsistent minutes while being flipped around (sometimes out of) the rotation. Note that the forward missed significant time with a sprained (right) ankle last season.
With the Warriors currently at 25-1 (+2500) in NBA championship futures, Kuminga’s presence (or lack thereof) may move that needle. The team went 48-23 last season, defeating the higher-seeded Houston Rockets (seven games) in the opening round of the playoffs, then losing (five games) to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Their last win in the NBA Finals was in 2022 (fourth league title since 2015).
It’s difficult to say the window is closed with any team that has Steph Curry on the roster, but Kuminga’s whereabouts in 2025-26 is one of the more intriguing bits of NBA news as the Warriors strive to remain relevant in the West.
Here’s a bit of a primer on Jonathan Kuminga and the early-August NBA…
Did Jonathan Kuminga Get Traded?
Nope, at least not as of this writing. Kuminga isn’t giddy about Golden State, but that’s currently where he gets his mail. There’s no guarantee his name is going to be listed on the Warrior side of the ledger once NBA scores begin in 2025-26, but…
Is Jonathan Kuminga Good?
He is discontented and injury-prone as well. The 6-foot-7 Congolese forward has emerged as a solid, double-figure scorer with the Golden State Warriors, providing an offensive option to Steph Curry while keeping the opposition honest.
Kuminga is entering his fifth season once the 2025-26 NBA schedule begins in earnest.
Does BetUS Offer Constant Updates on NBA Championship Betting Odds?
Indeed. There are a plethora of odds and props available throughout the regular and postseason around individual games, individual awards, and anything a bettor might desire. Those NBA championship odds include that popular ‘pick the next champ’ future wager as well.
While the Oklahoma City Thunder are strong +265 favorites to repeat, there are four teams (Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, and New York Knicks) all at 8-1 (+800) second choices.
As with other wagers, NBA championship futures are fluid, thus subject to change.
Any Final Thoughts?
Anyone who pays even marginal attention to NBA game odds and NBA betting odds is well aware of the soon-to-be five-year veteran Jonathan Kuminga. He’s a major component of the Golden State Warriors, but whether that becomes past tense and Kuminga plays elsewhere next season remains to be seen.
