Texas A&M Football Preview and Prediction for 2025 Season

The Texas A&M Aggies enter the 2025 football season with high expectations under second-year head coach Mike Elko, following an 8-5 record in 2024. The strength of this team is the offensive line which sees all five starters returning this year. This will help the Aggies establish a strong run game and give QB Marcel Reed time throw the ball.
Reed had a decent season last year all things considered. He only threw 240 passes but made the most of his limited passing opportunities. He managed to throw for 15 TD’s and just 6 interceptions. He is a dual threat QB who rushed for over 500 yards and 7 TD’s a season ago. Look for Texas A&M to run the ball a bunch but also give Reed more passing plays this year.
Defense was an issue last year. The Aggies finished 13th overall in the SEC and allowed 19 runs of 20+ yards. They lose some key linemen this year but brought in new talent through the portal. Linebackers Taurean York and Scooby Williams are strengths, poised for All-SEC seasons. Transfers like Jordan Shaw (Washington) and Julian Humphrey (Georgia) aim to shore up the secondary, while edge rusher Cashius Howell (4 sacks in 2024) is a breakout candidate. Defense will be a big question mark heading into the season though.

Prognosis
Sportsbooks currently have the over-under for total wins at 7.5 games. A&M is +3300 to win the national championship. Texas A&M should improve somewhat on last year’s record. It wouldn’t surprise me if they won 9 games. The Over 7.5 wins seems solid, but I don’t think they have the depth to make a national title run. There are simply too many better teams in the way.
