3 Reasons Jannik Sinner Will Win the 2025 US Open

The final major on the tennis calendar is underway as of this writing. It’s the 145th United States Open at Flushing Meadows in the New York City borough of Queens.
Unsurprisingly, all the big names are present, including the defending hard-court champions Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner. With no disrespect intended to Ms. Sabalenka, we are going to concentrate this missive on Sinner,
As of this writing in the first few days of the tourney, 2025 U.S. Open odds had Sinner as the even-money (+100) favorite to successfully defend his title. The second choice is ‘22 winner Carlos Alcaraz at 7-5 (+140), with a big gap on the board to four-time U.S. Open champ Novak Djokovic at 11-1 (+1100).
Twenty-four-year-old (as of last week) Jannik Sinner, easily disposing of his first-round opponent in the U.S. Open scores, is the only Italian ever to be ranked No. 1 in the world. He has four majors to his credit (2024 U.S. Open, 2024-25 Australian Open, and 2025 Wimbledon) among his 20 titles. That doesn’t include his success with Italy in the Davis Cup.
Then, there are the controversies. Sinner’s notoriety corresponded with failing a drug test (anabolic steroid [clostebol]) in March of 2025. There was a resulting three-month ban (prior to any of the Grand Slam events) in 2025.
Sinner had claimed the banned substance, in the form of a cream, was inadvertently administered during a massage.
There was a subsequent ‘no-fault’ adjudication, which didn’t sit well with many of the other players or some anti-drug organizations, who cried ‘favoritism.’
We’re digressing here. Tennis news finds Sinner clearly the one to beat at the Open as he prepares to take on Australian Alexei Popyrin in Thursday’s (August 28th) second round.
There’s no denying the road to the title goes through Sinner, the only Italian man to win the U.S. Open title (Flavia Pennetta won the women’s title a decade ago).
Entering his annual business trip to New York, Jannik Sinner’s stats include (currently) 54 weeks ranked No. 1 in the world while winning 31 of his 35 matches. Ask the never-wrong internet why he’s so good and you get phrases such as ‘exceptional forehand,’ ‘consistent groundstrokes,’ and ‘lethal defense.’
Does BetUS Offer Constant Updates on U.S. Open Betting Lines?

If you’re a soothsayer, Sinner is also the 11-10 (+110) favorite to win the 2026 Aussie Open, co-choice at 3-2 (+150) at the ‘26 French Open, and the ‘26 Wimbledon 3-2 (+150) second choice.

Any Final Thoughts?
Anyone who pays even marginal attention to 2025 U.S. Open odds and/or tennis rumors is well aware of the current roll of Jannik Sinner. He’s out to win a third Grand Slam event in 2025, and it’s probably going to take a tremendous performance to take him down here.
