NY Jets Preview – Odds – Predictions for 2025

One of the harder to teams to figure out this year will be the NY Jets. They change so much every year you really don’t know what strengths and weaknesses they have. The last couple years it was future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers at the helm. Now, it will be veteran QB Justin Fields taking snaps. This should make for an interesting team to watch.

Last year Justin Fields sat on the bench behind Russell Wilson. A large % of Steelers fans were calling for Fields to at least get more snaps. Some even wanted him to start over Wilson. Now we will get to see if they had a point. This will be Fields’s first starting role since he left Chicago a few years ago. This season will tell us if Fields can really play at this level after having a disappointing tenure in the Windy City.

Last year the NY Jets went just 5-12 despite solid numbers at the QB position. The defense, which had been considered top notch in the previous season, finished 24th overall. They simply allowed more points to be scored than the offense could score itself. The team seemed totally dysfunctional from the top down.

Fields will be handing the ball off to RB Breece Hall. He is a solid running back who had just under 900 yards rushing last year with 4.2 YPC and 5 TDs. These are not exactly Pro Bowl caliber numbers, but he is serviceable.

Allan Lazard, Josh Reynolds and Garrett Wilson are the wide receivers. They are not a top tier group, but they are just under that. They should be good for Fields this year.

The defense will either play down to the level they did last year or step up and play with the same intensity they did the year before. There is no telling. See full depth chart here

As you can see, the Jets will face off against the team which picked up their castoff Aaron Rodgers. It’s also the team who employed the Jets new QB. This first game should be interesting for that dynamic alone.

2025 NY Jets Prediction

Like I said earlier, this one is a touch nut to crack. This team could be very bad, or it could end up surprising people. I think the under 7.5 wins is the smart play but at -205 I would definitely pass on this futures wager. There are simply too many variables here.
