Pittsburgh Steelers Preview – Odds – Free Picks for 2025

Scott Morris | September 6, 2025
Steelers 2025 betting preview

Changes this offseason were pretty severe for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They dumped both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to bring in Aaron Rodgers. Many fans and sports analysts think this was a big mistake, but I do not agree. The Steelers saw the limitations that their 2024 quarterbacks had and decided to bring in the old man.

People think Aaron Rodgers is washed up but when you look at his stats that is simply not the case. Last season with the Jets, Rodgers threw a 63% completion rate along with 3,897 yards – 29 TD’s and 11 ints. Yes, he went 5-12 as a starter but the team seemed flat, like they’d given up on the season very early on. Their usually stout defense ranked just 24th in points allowed. You cannot win games when your defense is giving up points like that.

It’s true that Rodgers has lost a step or two, but the dude still laces the ball. He can still throw. The Steelers are not exactly known for wide open passing offenses anymore anyway. If Rodgers puts up stats similar to lasts season, the defense should do the rest.

The Steelers starting roster and depth chart is pretty solid. Backing up Rodgers is Mason Rudolph. He can hold down the fort pretty well should Rodgers miss a few games. The Steelers brought in DK Metcalf who will be a huge receiver for Rodgers.

Najee Harris is gone from the backfield. He now plays in LA for the Chargers. RB Jaylen Warren will get the bulk of the carries this year. It’s his turn to shine. He isn’t as good as Najee Harris but if he stays healthy, he should approach 1,000 yards rushing or even exceed it.

TJ Watt and Jalen Ramsey are the stars on defense. Darius Slay, Cameron Heyward & Patrick Queen are good players. They lost Minkah Fitzpatrick in the trade for Ramsey with the Miami Dolphins. The defense ranked 7th in points allowed last season and 8th in total yards allowed. I think this year’s defense should pick right up where last year’s left off.

2025 Pittsburgh Steelers Schedule

@ New York Jets (They did this on purpose LOL)
vs Seattle Seahawks
@ New England Patriots
vs Minnesota Vikings (in Ireland)
vs Cleveland Browns
@ Cincinnati Bengals
vs Green Bay Packers
vs Indianapolis Colts
@ Los Angeles Chargers
vs Cincinnati Bengals
@ Chicago Bears
vs Buffalo Bills
@ Baltimore Ravens
vs Miami Dolphins
@ Detroit Lions
@ Cleveland Browns
vs Baltimore Ravens

The Steelers’ schedule isn’t an easy one. In fact, it’s rated as the tenth toughest schedule in the NFL. Playing the Bengals and the Ravens twice each is a big part of that. At Detroit will be a tough one as well. But looking at the schedule and my obvious optimism for the Steelers this year, I don’t see any reason they can’t win 10 or 11 ballgames.

Honestly, I would take over on both these options.

Conclusion

The Steelers should be a force to be reckoned. The defense will be excellent and if Rodgers brings stability and his low turnover rate into the 2025 season, they should do just fine. As I mentioned earlier, 10 or 11 wins is realistic.

For fun, go ahead and throw some change on the Steelers winning the Super Bowl. As far as longshots in the NFL goes, the Steelers are my favorite.

While you’re at it, why not throw 20 bucks on Rodgers to win the NFL MVP? The odds are +7500 and the guy already has four of them. That 20 bucks will pay out $1500 should this happen.
