James Franklin Next Team Odds

James Franklin was fired as the head coach of Penn State after an embarrassing loss to Northwestern this past Saturday. As mentioned in a previous article, Franklin was locked into a long contract (until 2031) and Penn State will buy him out of it for a whopping $49M. He now has the choice to either walk away from football and enjoy the rest of his life as a multi-millionaire or he can catch on with another football team and continue to coach.
James Franklin coached Penn State from 2014 to 2025, compiling an overall record of 104-45 over 12 seasons, tying him for second-most wins in program history behind only Joe Paterno. His teams made deep playoff runs, including appearances in the Rose Bowl and Peach Bowl, and came within a score of a national championship game, but he struggled in big moments with just a 4-21 mark against top-10 opponents. Penn State returned nearly every starter from last season’s highly successful team but somehow, they are much worse this year. Was it a coach? Or was it something else? Only time will tell.
