THanksgiving Days NFL Game Previews and Picks

Turkey day is here and most of us will be spending time in front of our TV sets to watch at least one of the big three games being played today. The Thanksgiving tradition of NFL games on TV is over 100 years old with the first game being played on this holiday in 1920. The Chicago Bears face the Chicago Cardinals in that game.

Eventually the slate of games expanded to two games that would always see the Lions and the Cowboys in each. 19 years ago, the NFL added a primetime game to the schedule, making it possible for turkey-filled viewers to get their football fix from noon ’til midnight. It was a welcomed addition.

Green Bay (7-3-1) vs Detroit (7-4)

The top spot in the division currently belong to the Bears but these two teams are right there, still in the fight for the top spot. It’s a classic showdown of two very old franchises with everything to gain by winning today.

Jordan Love vs Jarred Goff is one of the better QB matchups in the league and experts expect to see a ton of yards gained through the air. These two teams opened the season against one another, a game which saw the Packers easily defeat the Lions 27-14. This is a chance for the Lions to exact some revenge and get some turkey day bragging rights.

Kansas City (6-5) vs Dallas (5-5-1)

The Cowboys are coming off the best comeback in team history (tied) as they came back from a 21-0 deficit last weekend to defeat the Eagles (24-21).

The Chiefs are coming off a huge comeback and win themselves as they crawled back from a large deficit to defeat the Colts (23-20) on Sunday.

This game will be a huge win for whichever team is able to pull it off. The winning team will have a winning record, and the losing team will not when the day is over.

This is another game which is expected to have lots of arial firework as both teams feature pass-happy offenses and quarterbacks known for their passing ability. However, Mahomes is known for his ability to pull off huge comebacks and is more consistent than Dak Prescott.

The public seems to be believing in the Cowboys after this past weekend’s miracle comeback and are backing them at a greater than 2-1 ratio.

Cincinnati (3-8) vs Ravens (6-5)

Both of these teams have had a disappointing season thus far as their starting star QB’s have been sidelined with injuries. But the Ravens have had Lamar Jackson back for a few weeks now and the Bengals are just now getting Joe Burrow back from a long injury. The advantage here lies with the Ravens.

The Ravens struggled some with the Jets last week before figuring it out and putting together some good drives late in the game. They won that game 23-10. This will be the first time division rival Bengals and Ravens meet this year. The Bengals will be playing for pride as they are essentially eliminated from the playoffs, barring a miraculous and improbable undefeated finish to the season. The Ravens are fighting for a playoff spot.
