March Madness 2026: Final Four Picks and National Title Prediction

Matt Dominique | March 30, 2026
Final Four predictions April 2026

At this stage, there’s no guessing who belongs here. The Final Four is set, and it’s four teams that have looked like they could win this thing for a while now.

UConn, Illinois, Arizona, and Michigan didn’t sneak through. They’ve handled their business, and in most cases, they’ve done it comfortably. That’s been a trend all tournament. A lot of games haven’t been close, and now what’s left are teams that have separated themselves pretty clearly.

The first matchup is UConn against Illinois, and it’s a little tricky to read because of how UConn got here.

That comeback against Duke is going to stick with people. Down big (19), then winning it at the buzzer, that’s the kind of moment that can carry a team. At the same time, games like that can take something out of you. It’s not always easy to reset after something that emotional.

Illinois hasn’t had that problem. They’ve been steady the whole way. No panic stretches, no late-game chaos, just controlled wins. And they’ve done it against good teams. What stands out is how different they look compared to earlier in the season. They’re not just scoring; they’re defending and managing games better.

On the other side, Arizona and Michigan look like the two teams that haven’t really been pushed yet.

Arizona has rolled through every round. Even when games look close early, they don’t stay that way. They’ve had a way of pulling away without much drama, which is usually a good sign this late.

Michigan has been just as convincing, maybe even more. They haven’t had many moments where things get uncomfortable. Most of their games have felt decided before the final stretch, and that says a lot considering the level of competition at this point.

What stands out with Michigan is how little changes from game to game. They don’t drift. They don’t get pulled into a different style. They play their way, and teams haven’t really been able to stop it.

Final Four Picks

In the first game, I’d go with Illinois (-2.5 at SportsBetting.ag).

UConn has the big moment, but Illinois has been more consistent from start to finish. They haven’t needed a comeback like that, and they haven’t shown many cracks. At this point, that steadiness is something I trust more than momentum.

The second game is close, but Michigan (-1.5) feels like the safer side.

Arizona has been dominant too, but Michigan just looks a little more controlled, especially defensively. They don’t give up easy runs, and they don’t rely on things getting hot offensively. That balance is hard to go against.

So that leaves Illinois and Michigan in the title game.

National Championship Prediction

If that’s the matchup, I’d take Michigan to win it. Michigan just beat Illinois 84-70 a month ago.

Illinois has been one of the better teams left, no question. But Michigan just looks like the group that can handle whatever kind of game shows up. If it’s fast, they’re fine. If it slows down, they’re still fine.

They haven’t needed anything unusual to get here. No last-second shots, no big swings — just control.

And that’s usually what carries over in the final game.

Illinois will keep it close, but Michigan has looked like the most complete team still playing. If they play the same way they have through the first four rounds, they’re in a good spot to finish it. The bottom line is that the Arizona vs Michigan game will most likely decide the ultimate champion.
