Preview and Pick Saturday LSU vs. SCar

October 13, 2012

Last week we loved South Carolina vs. Georgia. That one cashed with no problem. We have isolated this weeks top selection and it just so happens it involves South Carolina again. This game is LSU vs. South Carolina which will take place on Saturday Night 8:00 pm EST.

The No. 9 LSU Tigers saw their hopes of reclaiming No. 1 status dashed by an SEC rival last weekend, but theyll have little time to mourn in Week 7 as the No. 3 South Carolina Gamecocks hone in on the chance to send Les Miles and company to a second consecutive loss. Although the Tigers were the consensus top team in the country heading into the regular season, projected to finish higher than even reigning national champion Alabama, the club has done little to live up to the hype. Their inability to prove that theyve deserved such lofty praise on the BCS futures, has cost them in the AP polls.

Now reeling after a surprising Week 6 defeat against SEC East threat Florida, the Tigers have seen their college football odds plummet. With just 20/1 odds of winning the National Championship, LSUs chances are as slim as theyve been all season.

Lining up against them in the Saturday tilt will be yet another contender from the SEC East. The Gamecocks stuffed rival Georgia in a big way in Week 6, but its hard to tell if that momentum will carry over into the matchup with a team that experts and oddsmakers alike previously considered out of their league entirely.

The Gamecocks have 10/1 odds of winning the BCS, but are three-point underdogs for their matchup with LSU specifically. This would see like a slam dunk reason to take South Carolina but it isn’t.  We really like LSU here. They are -3 but we are taking the on the money line to guard against last second covers. But we believe LSU WILL WIN. 67% of the public is on South Carolina at the time of writing this article.  That alone is not enough to bet but there are some really good matchups for LSU. It will come down to Interior D Line and secondary for the Tigers and they will get the job done.
