Super Bowl MVP Odds Led By New England’s Tom Brady

Just three games remain in the NFL schedule for this season with the AFC and NFC Championships games this weekend followed by Super Bowl LI on February 5.
For NFL football players, being named the MVP of the Super Bowl is an incredible experience. As the biggest game of the NFL season approaches, one player familiar with being a Super Bowl MVP is once again at the top of the futures board for this year’s prize.
A number of sportsbooks have New England star quarterback Tom Brady as the favorite at 8 to 5 to win the Super Bowl LI MVP.
Brady is followed by Atlanta signal caller Matt Ryan at 13 to 4, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers at 17 to 4, Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger at 9 to 1 and Pittsburgh running back Le’Veon Bell at 14 to 1 to round out the top 5 odds.
Brady has won the Super Bowl MVP award in 3 of the 4 Super Bowls he helped lead the Patriots to victory. The 39-year old veteran signal caller hopes to reach yet another Super Bowl, but must defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday in the AFC title game.
In New England’s most recent trip to the Super Bowl just two seasons ago, Brady played phenomenally well completing 37 of 50 passes for 328 yards with 4 touchdowns.
Historically, the quarterback position has dominated the winners circle when it comes to Super Bowl MVPs, but of recent, that trend has seen a change.
During Super Bowl XLVIII, an interception by Malcolm Smith changed the game and Smith was awarded the MVP. Von Miller last season had a huge game for Denver as the linebacker received the MVP in Denver’s win over Carolina.
The odds for Miller in that game opened at +6000 and when he won, sportsbooks both online and in Vegas were hit hard by all those bettors who took Miller as the MVP long shot.
Of course, the odds will change drastically after Sunday’s conference championships games.
If the Patriots are beaten by the Steelers, Brady will disappear from the list and in all likelihood, Big Ben will have either the shortest or the second shortest odds behind Atlanta’s Ryan or Green Bay’s Rodgers, depending upon which of the two lead his respective team to the NFC title.
