The four-way tie for first place in the AFC South will be in the spotlight Monday night of week six, although it will not look the same with the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans both playing on Sunday. Vince Young and the Tennessee Titans will travel to Florida to take on David Garrard and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Heading into this football betting weekend, all four teams in the AFC South have 3-2 records. Coming out on top in this one may be as simple as winning the coin toss, as the team that has taken the pre-game flip has won all six Monday night football games this year.

Tennessee ranks fourth in the NFL in scoring after combining for 83 points their last three games, including wins over the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys. The sixth-ranked rushing attack in the league is a big part of that, with Pro Bowl running back Chris Johnson leading the way with his 4.3-yard average and six touchdowns. Young continues to show steady improvement from the pocket, and while he still has the legs to make the big plays that he was known for during his college football betting days, is more well rounded. While Tennessee’s defense is ranked outside of the top-ten, they have been the best in the NFL in the red zone, and will need to continue to play that way against the Jaguars.

Why To Bet On The Jaguars?

With running back Maurice Jones-Drew rushing for an average of four yards per carry, the Jaguars have pushed their way to the fourth overall ranking in the league in rushing yards, but the real story this season has been the emergence of Garrard. The veteran quarterback has shown a lot more poise and confidence under center, and will need to continue to make plays while limiting mistakes in a crucial Monday night matchup. Jacksonville has one of the worst pass defenses in the league, but as of this point, the jury is out on whether Young can capitalize.

How The Game Will Play Out

The Jaguars will stack the box hoping to slow Johnson and eliminate Young’s big-play ability on the ground, but that won’t be enough as Tennessee goes over the top with some big pass plays. The Titans will bend but not break on defense, as they have all year, and remain in first place in the AFC South with a win.
