Total Trends For Sunday Games During NFL Week 12

November 27, 2016

For those that prefer the point total or like to play the total along with the moneyline or spread, here are some trends showing up for the over/under during Week 12 of the NFL regular season.

New Orleans hosts Los Angeles Sunday and the Saints have yet to have such a low total at 45.5 at home since during the regular season of 2010 when they played Seattle. This number appears justified due to the Rams defense allowing only 18.7 points per game along with rookie Jared Goff now quarterbacking the Rams offense. The UNDER looks like a sound play in that matchup.

San Diego has seen the OVER cash in 8 of 10 games this season and 4 out of 5 on the road. However, the Chargers face a Houston defense that is allowing 16.5 points per game that plays exceptionally well at home. Can you say “under?”

The OVER has cashed in 14 of the past 20 games between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots. The way the Pats are playing the OVER looks solid here.

The OVER has cashed in four consecutive Oakland games and in 8 of its 10 on the season. The Carolina Panthers come to town on Sunday and the Panthers defense plays well outside, giving up 19.5 points per game in 8 outdoor contests this season. The UNDER looks like a strong play here.

The UNDER has cashed in the second half in 8 of the 11 Cleveland Browns games this seasons because the offense has averaged a paltry 5.4 points after the half this season. The UNDER looks strong in this game, but in the second half.

This season, teams from the West Coast that travel to the East Coast have seen 11 of 12 games cash OVER. Add in last year’s results to that and it is still an outrageous 22-6 or 79%.

One game that could fit nicely into that trend is Arizona visiting Atlanta. The total as of late Saturday night was 50.5, which is the highest on the board. The OVER has cashed in each of Arizona’s four road games, while on the season Atlanta games are 8-2 on the OVER. In two previous East Coast trips this season, Arizona has allowed a combined 63 points. You can expect a number of points in this one.
