Transcript: BetAnyThing Explains Limiting Payout Size

Us:

“Hello, We received an email from a client of yours, informing us of his situation and a concerning set of payout rules. The player made a large amount of small deposits overtime and won a good amount. When he requested a payout of a couple thousand dollars he was sent the attached image. Basically, you have limited his payout amount because he made small deposits. We also found that your limit was well below even your own rules. Most any very highly-rated sportsbook doesn’t care about how the money got into the account and in what amounts. If the player wins, they deserve to be paid. I am awaiting your response before we publish anything on this.”

BetAnything:

“Hi Scott, Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this matter. Please note that while all customers’ fair winnings are always paid accordingly, each customer’s weekly payout limit is determined by their average deposit amount over the past six months. This policy, which is outlined on our website, does not require customers to make large deposits in total, but rather to gradually increase the amount of each individual deposit, even if made less frequently, to help improve their overall average.

For example, if a customer’s weekly payout limit is set at $400, it means their average deposit amount over the past six months has been $4. It’s also important to note that our website specifies that Crypto deposits should be made for a minimum of $25.

That said, we never hold or withhold any customer’s legitimate winnings. The only effect of the payout limit is that the total balance is released in accordance with the customer’s weekly payout cap, as determined by their average deposit activity. We hope this clarifies the situation.”

Us:

“Is there a reason you instituted this policy?
How does it affect you negatively if the person makes a bunch of small deposits versus fewer but larger ones? Also, are you aware of any other major sportsbooks that have implemented a withdrawal limit based on the average size of the deposit? Finally, the person in question showed us that they made $25 deposits each time and when doing the math their withdrawal limits are well under what they should be.”

BetAnything:

“This policy is aligned to ensure fairness with the limits adjusted to each player’s profile. A few larger deposits will increase the average. We recommend the player to get in touch with us for detailed information about his account.”

Editor’s Note:

It should be noted that the player sent us examples of his deposits which were around $25 each.
