Week 9 College Football Betting Wrap Up

College football’s Week 9 is now in the books. On Tuesday, the first rankings for the College Football Playoff will be released but first here is a quick review of what happened during Week 9 for bettors.

The favorites were 39-15 straight up and 22-32 against the spread. The home teams were 27-27 SU and 26-28 ATS. The over/under point totals were 22-31-1.

The underdogs with the largest spread to win outright were Buffalo +19 over Akron 41-20, Ohio U. +14.5 over Toledo 31-26, Wyoming +14.5 over Boise State 30-28 and Boston College +13.5 over North Carolina State 21-14.

The favorites with the largest spread that covered were Oklahoma -39 over Kansas 56-3, Louisiana Tech -29 over Rice 61-16, Western Kentucky -21.5 over Florida Atlantic 52-3 and Arkansas State -20.5 over Louisiana-Monroe 51-10.

Notes from the Top 25

West Virginia lost for the first this season on the road to Oklahoma State by 17 points. West Virginia is 4-0 SU playing at home and 2-1 ATS, but only 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS on the road.

Louisville came close to losing to Virginia. The Cavaliers were 32-point dogs at home but led by a point with just under 2:00 minutes remaining in the game. However, Lamar Jackson the odds on favorite to win the Heisman Trophy threw a touchdown pass of 29 yards to spoil the upset bid by Virginia.

Ohio State lost last week and barely beat Northwestern 24-20 on Saturday. After beginning the season 4-0 SU and ATS, Ohio State is now 3-1 SU and 0-4 ATS in its last four.

Florida defeated Georgia 24-10. The Gators are now 6-1 SU and have covered two straight games for just the first time all season. Georgia is 1-4 SU over its past five and only 2-5 ATS over its past seven.

Baylor lost for the first time this season 35-34 to Texas. Baylor held a lead of 5 points with the ball inside the 5-yard line late in the game but opted to kick a field goal. Texas followed with a quick touchdown but missed the 2-point conversion. The Longhorns were able to get the ball back again and kick the winning field goal.

Boise State also lost its first game falling to Wyoming 30-28.

Clemson rallied with 17 points in the fourth quarter to beat Florida State 37-34.
