NFL – Major Action on Houston Texans

This afternoon buzz is going around Vegas and online sportsbooks about some hefty wagering that is occurring on the Houston Texans. The line was issued earlier in the week at Houston -1.5 at Tennessee. The line has now been bet up to Houston -3. As far as we can tell, Tenn QB Mariotta is expected to play for Tennessee.
Large bets on the Texans -2/-2.5 came in at multiple Las Vegas books on Thursday. @andrewssports took $110,000 on Texans at South Point. Johnny Avello of @WynnLasVegas said he also took a “pretty good sized” bet on Texans yesterday. “I think everyone in town did,” Avello added.

In reality, people aren’t giving Tennessee much credit because they just lost to the Dolphins 27-20. Their reasoning for the heavy bets are that Miami is supposed to be really bad. But, that remains to be seen. Miami is in New Jersey this weekend to take on the Jets and their rookie QB Sam Darnold. The NYJ are -3 favorites.
According to the current Vegas power ranking chart (below), the Jets should be a -2.5 favorite, assuming home field for even teams is a (-3 point) advantage. I am not sold on the Jets just yet. Detroit played so horribly last week and made the Jets look great. I am taking Miami and buying the half to make them +3.5. I am also not following suit with the huge Houston backers either. There is no evidence Tennessee is a bad team. In fact, I am considering buying the half and making Tennessee home 3.5 point dogs. – Scott
