Week 6 of the 2023 NFL season came with its own fair share of entertainment and fans are all here for it. However, that does mean that, like every other week, it was also accompanied with its own list of injured players as well. A great number of quarterbacks were seen having to exit the field this time around, one after the other, with yet another new set of injuries. Here is a list of a few notable players that went down in Week 6:

  •         Justin Fields:

The Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields had to leave the game against the Minnesota Vikings in the third quarter after he dislocated his thumb. The team hasn’t given much of an update on how he is doing but what we do know is that if the player does not need surgery, he will just have to work on his grip strength to return to the field, which may not be for a while. However, in the worst case scenario, if he does require surgery, then the player will have to sit out the rest of the season, which has fans heartbroken.

  •         Baker Mayfield:

The quarterback from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was already struggling to fight against the Detroit Lions when he suffered a left hand injury late in the game. The X-rays came back negative which was good news, however, the player reported that the injury still bothered the way he moved. The team will be closely monitoring the player moving forward.

  •         Jimmy Garoppolo:

The Las Vegas Raiders quarterback was playing quite well against his former team, the New England Patriots, when he had to leave during the second quarter to be evaluated for a back injury. He didn’t return to the field for the rest of the game and was replaced by Brian Hoyer. Luckily, he appears to have just nearly avoided a major back injury. He is still undergoing tests but will not have to miss a lot of time in the upcoming weeks.

  •         Trevor Lawrence:

Yet another quarterback, Trevor Lawrence from the Jacksonville Jaguars, was doing great against the Indianapolis Colts when he faced a knee injury and was ruled questionable to return. Although the team believes that it isn’t a major injury, he will get an MRI done just to be safe. He will, most likely, be fit to return to the field for their Week 7 game against the Saints.

  •         Ryan Tannehill:

To keep up the streak, once again, another quarterback Ryan Tannehill from the Tennessee Titans was carted off the field during the game against the Baltimore Ravens after he suffered an ankle injury. He was replaced by backup Malik Willis and this may happen again in the upcoming weeks as well as the player is expected to miss a few games.

It was just a bad week for a lot of the quarterbacks and it has caused quite a few issues for the respective teams. Hopefully, the players can recover and return to the field as soon as possible. As disappointing as it is, at the end of the day, it is all part of the NFL season.
