Super Cringe Gus Johnson to Call Kansas State at Texas Game Saturday

November 3, 2023
Gus Johnson this week November 4 2023

Fans of our site have long known or disdain for the sports announcer Gus Johnson. With his over-the-top, overly embellished sports calls, he has been known to drive us crazy here at the office. Every weekend we get hundreds of clicks on our articles about the worst sports announcers on TV. Even though Joe Buck currently leads an all-time votes not too far behind him is one Gus Johnson.

Gus is a combination of corny, phoniness, over the top catch-phrases and mixed-in fake hip-hop language. Just when you think he has settled in for the game and it is going to be OK, a play will happen and trigger this little turtle-looking troll to go off.

Texas vs Kansas State

Noon Eastern this weekend “Gush” Johnson and Joe Klatt will be calling the Big 12 matchup Texas vs K State. Luckily for viewers, Gush seems to not get as excited about other conferences as he does for The Big Ten. If you do like we do, just turn the TV down to a low roar when watching the game. It is our opinion that networks will eventually offer broadcasts with no announcers talking over top of the game. You will just be able to hear the game and the crowd reaction and nothing else with a click of a button. We look forward to that day.

Texas is only -4 points because once again they are without their star QB Brock Ewers. According to The San Antonio Express, freshman Maalik Muprhy will get the nod for the second week in a row. He was able to put on a good performance last week when he and his team routed an overwhelmed BYU team.

Betting action is mixed and just about even with 52% of bets and money coming in on Kansas State. From a betting angle we would recommend sitting this one out but if you have to have action on it we say take the Jayhawks and hope their defense forces the young Texas QB to make some mistakes.
