Key Injuries Heading into Week 15 of the 2023 NFL Season

December 13, 2023
Houston Texans QB injury situation

Week 14 of the 2023 NFL season was quite an interesting one, jam packed with action and drama. However, like every other week, it came at the cost of quite a few injuries. Big names were seen having to leave the field because of one medical concern after the other. As heartbreaking as it is to see your favorite players walk out of the field, at the end of the day, it is all part of the NFL season. Here is a list of a few notable players who faced injuries in Week 14:

  •         C.J. Stroud:

The Houston Texans Quarterback C.J. Stroud was doing quite well against the New York Jets when he had to leave the field due to a head injury. He was taken down by the opposition’s defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. The player’s body initially hit the ground, the back of his helmet smacking against the turf. He was able to walk off towards the locker on his own but did not return to the game. He has since been put into concussion protocol and chances are the man will have to sit out the upcoming game. Davis Mills is listed as the backup QB and very well may start this weekend against Tennessee.

  •         Nico Collins:

Another player from the Texans, this time wide receiver Nico Collins, had only a single catch before he left the game against the Jets during the first quarter because of some sort of a calf injury. He was initially ruled questionable to return but was eventually ruled out. There is yet to be an update on how he is doing but it has been confirmed that he is dealing with a strained calf.

  •         Justin Herbert:

The Los Angeles Chargers Quarterback Justin Herbert fractured his index finger on his right during the second quarter of the game against the Denver Broncos. He was quickly ruled questionable to return and was eventually ruled out at halftime, being replaced by backup Easton Stick. He is not expected to play in the upcoming game since he will most likely have to undergo surgery.

  •         Justin Jefferson:

The wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, Justin Jefferson, returned on Sunday after recovering from his hamstring injury to play against the Las Vegas Raiders only to exit because of a chest injury. He absorbed quite a hard hit to the midsection and had to head towards the locker room for evaluation. He was quickly ruled out and taken to a local hospital to be on the safe side. Fans take a breath of relief as it has now been reported the player managed to avoid any significant injuries.

The list of injuries in the 2023 NFL season has gotten quite long and it isn’t going to stop anytime soon. Fans are interested to see how these teams plan on making up for the injured players in the upcoming games; the most crucial ones of the regular season. It just keeps on getting more and more interesting as time passes by.
