How to Bet the 2024 Masters

April 10, 2024
2024 Masters golf

The 2024 Masters kicks off Thursday in Augusta and world No. 1-ranked golfer Scottie Scheffler is the overall favorite to win. Scheffler is given +400 odds to capture his second Masters Tournament. He won the event back in 2023.

World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is the only other golfer given better than +1000 odds to win the Masters. McIlroy is second on the board at +985. Jon Rahm, who won the Masters last season, is listed at +1100.

Betting on the overall Masters champion is not the only bet on the board. Here, we take a look at a couple solid Top 20 and Top 10 bets as well as a longshot you might look to target this weekend.

Masters Top 20 Bets

Matt Fitzpatrick is No. 10 in the world golf rankings. He doesn’t have any wins this season, but he has finished in the Top 10 in each of his last two tournaments. Fitzpatrick got off to a poor start this season after putting a four-gram weight in his driver and forgetting to remove it.

Since Fitzpatrick removed the weight, he has gained 0.91 strokes off the tee. He’s one of the best short-game players on the tour and often does extremely well when playing on difficult courses like Augusta. Fitzpatrick is listed at +130 to land in the Top 20, something he has done in three of the last four events in which he made the cut.

Byeong Hun An has missed two straight cuts, which is why bettors may want to jump on him to finish in the Top 20 at +280 odds. This seems to be a bit of an overreaction to An’s poor outings the last two weekends.

He’s a much more complete golfer that can weather the storm at Augusta, where he hasn’t played since 2020. An finished T8 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Week 10.

Bet These Golfers in the Masters Top 10

Cameron Davis is an exceptional talent on the PGA Tour who just hasn’t put it all together yet. He may not put it all together this weekend, but he’ll do enough to put himself in the Top 10. He is one of the longer drivers on the tour and that will help him at Augusta.

He also has a great short game and don’t forget, Davis tied for fourth at the 2023 PGA Championships. In the five events where he made the cut this year, he has finished in the Top 20 four times. He’s got enough talent to get hot and make himself a value Top 10 pick at +1600 at top sportsbooks.

The other Top 10 pick to consider is Russell Henley at +475. Henley has gained some serious strokes over the last five tournaments with his putting. He’s made the cut in six of his eight tournament appearances this season and he’s finished fourth or tied for fourth in three of those.

If you go back to last season, Henley has finished in the Top 10 of six of his last 13 competitions. He tied for fourth here at Augusta last season and he was fourth just last weekend at the Valero Texas Open.

Masters Favorites & Longshots

Rahm odds Master's 2024As mentioned, Scheffler is the Masters favorite at +400. He won the event two years ago and finished tied for 10th last year. Scheffler has two wins this season – The Players Championship and the Arnold Palmer Invitational – and he finished tied for second at last week’s Valero Texas Open.

Rahm, who won last year, is listed at +1100, but there hasn’t been a repeat Masters champion since Tiger Woods in 2001-02. Woods, who has won the Masters five times, will play in this year’s event and is listed at +12000 odds to win.

One favorite to consider is Xander Schauffele at +1400 at BetUS. He’s ranked fifth in the world and has six Top 10 finishes in seven events this season. In 2019, Schauffele tied for second here at Augusta. He’s coming off a T5 finish at the Valspar Championship last week.

Cameron Davis (+25000) is an interesting longshot pick. He’s ranked 14th in the world and just last week finished second at the Valspar Championship. In eight finishes this season, Davis has been in the Top 10 four times. His best finish at Augusta was 46th in 2022. Crazier things have happened.
